Bear Valley Area
The vacation homes around Bear Valley have easy access to restaurants, hiking, Lake Alpine, the summer Music Festival, cross country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowmobiling.
Bear Valley
The community of Bear Valley has the reputation of being up-scale, and it is. But many of the homes in the village are moderately priced and rent for reasonable prices. Also, Bear Valley is one of the few places along Highway 4 where you will find condominiums for rent. There is no driving on the residential roads in the winter, so you may have to use the local snowmobile taxi to reach the home your rent. Some rental agencies provide snowmobile service to your cabin on your arrival and from it on your departure. Condos are all accessible by car. Many homes rent for between $270 and $310 per night, condos as little as $140 per night.
Sky High Ranch
Sky High Ranch is a small development off Highway 4 near Big Meadow, about 5 miles west of Bear Valley. In the winter you need a 4-wheel drive vehicle with high clearance to reach many of the homes there. Rental prices are similar to Bear Valley, about $250 to $300 per night.

Big Trees Village
The area around Big Trees Village is spread along gently curving roads around Camp Connell and Dorrington at an elevation around 5000 feet. The community gets plenty of snow in the winter.
Big Trees Village
Big Trees Village vacation homes are comparable to most of the homes found in Bear Valley and Blue Lake Springs. Cabin owners may belong to the recreation area there, and if they do, guest privileges may be extended to renters. That is a big plus in the summer. The recreation area has two swimming pools, tennis courts, and numerous activities for children and adults. The homes range from very expensive to moderately priced cabins, usually fairly well spaced. Roads are plowed in the winter. Rental rates for cabins range from $250 to $400 per night,
Snowshoe Springs
Snowshoe Springs is adjacent to Big Trees Village. The homes there tend to be a little closer together and not quite as expensive as in Big Trees. Many of the homes are the old A-frame style. That said, there are some luxurious homes scattered about the development. Snowshoe Springs has a large meadow and a lake. Expect to find some cabins priced a little lower than in Big Trees.

Blue Lake Springs Area
Blue Lake Springs
Compared to some of the other developments around Arnold, Blue Lake Springs is newer and more upscale. It is perhaps the most popular rental area along Highway 4. You will find many luxury vacation homes in Blue Lakes, but also some moderately priced ones. Sequoia Woods Country Club is there, but you have to join the club to use their facilities. Outside the country club, however, are many other Blue Lake Springs amenities that guests can use for a small fee, including a swimming pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, private lakes, outdoor sports, and movies under the stars. Rental rates for cabins range from $390 to $800 for 2 nights, with additional nights costing only $85 - $212 per night.
Fly-in Acres
The attraction at Fly-in Acres, just down-stream from Blue Lakes Springs, is Fly-in Acres private lake and beach. It's a wonderful place to take children for the day. Homes in Fly-in Acres tend to be older and less expensive than in Blue Lake Springs.
Lakeside Terrace
Lakeside Terrace is one of the older cabin developments, tucked in between Pinebrook and Blue Lake Springs. Owners there have lake use privileges for Fly-in Acres Lake. The cabins are often smaller and more rustic, offering a certain mountain charm you won't find in the fancy, new vacation homes in the area.
Pinebrook
Pinebrook is located just off Moran Road next to Fly-in Acres. This small community has beautiful, well-maintained homes. Owners there have a recreation area with a private lake, sport fields, and a club house.

Arnold Area Cabins
Meadowmont
Meadowmont straddles Highway 4 in Arnold with some cabins located within walking distance of town and others tucked away on a maze of winding residential streets. Many of the owners of homes in Meadowmont are full-time residents. They have no recreation facilities of their own.
Lakemont Pines
Lakemont Pines is on the western edge of Arnold, hidden back among the trees. They have a large private lake with a nice beach area for use by homeowners and renters. They also have sports equipment rentals, a snack bar, and children's play area. The development backs up to the Stanislaus National Forest and has access to the Arnold Rim Trail.

Forest Meadows
Forest Meadows is a gated community off Highway 4, four miles east of Murphys. The development includes a 9-hole golf course, parks with swimming pools, an off-leash dog areas, tennis and pickleball courts, and other amenities. A greenbelt trail system links the homes along with paved roads. Besides luxury homes there are also condominiums in the development.

Murphys can get light snow in the winter, but it usually doesn't stay on the ground long.
